Success Rates

Dick&George Since beginning its operation in the early nineties Amalijek Lodge hunters have achieved good success rates. An abundance of big game, light hunting pressure, limited licence availablity along with 100% effort by our guides will help ensure continued hunter satisfaction with a fair chase hunt.

Success rates for all species vary from year to year depending on the weather, and the week chosen to hunt, but the last week in September and the first two weeks of October seem to be the most productive. In different years this varies from earlier to later but this seems to be the exception as opposed to what is normal. Success rate numbers and size are difficult to average since some hunters will take the first animal seen and others will wait and often pass up taking animals early in the hunt and will sometimes not take an animal at all if none measures the size wanted.

When Bear tags are purchased, these are hunted usually as an incidental while moose & caribou hunting. Bears - some very large - have been seen by our hunters in the vicinity of old kill sites. A new scrub forest burnt area from a 1986 fire, accessible from camp, has become an excellent wild berry site and as such has turned into an excellent black bear feeding ground.
